A movie in the park just sounds like a good night, right?

The Cape Girardeau Parks & Recreation Department and the SEMO Arts Council are hosting a free pop-up movie at parks across town on several Friday nights in July and August.

It’ll have a drive-in movie kind of feel, but in this case, you can spread out on a blanket or lawn chair to enjoy the show.

So, what’s going to be on the big screen?

Here’s the schedule:

  • Elf – Celebrate Christmas in July – July 10 at Kiwanis Park
  • The Goonies – 80s Night – July 31 at Kiwanis Park
  • Trolls – Animation Night – August 7 at the Shawnee Park Soccer Fields
  • Spiderman Homecoming – Superhero Night – August 21 at the Shawnee Park Soccer Fields

There will be food trucks to buy food and snacks before the show.

You are more than welcome to bring blankets and lawn chairs to make your viewing more comfortable!

Pre-show activities start at 8 p.m.

The movie will start promptly at 9 p.m.
