We reached out to Christine Jaegers, the fitness and wellness specialist at the Osage Centre in Cape Girardeau, for a closer look at how to prep your kitchen for success.

She invited us into her home to show us it's all about little changes.

It starts at the grocery store

Success starts at the grocery store & what you bring into your house. If it’s not in your home, chances are it won’t end up in your belly!

It's all about visual cues

Visual cues are most important. When you open your fridge or pantry, what do you see?

Always have pre-sliced fruits and vegetables ready to go. They should be the first thing you see when you open the refrigerator! Store them in a clear container.

Above all, don’t leave healthy options hidden in the bottom (A.K.A. The RIP drawer area). You’ll forget
about them!

Out of sight, out of mind

Hide your bad food!
What is on your counter? Christine recommends putting the cookies and cakes out of sight. Keep fruit and nuts on the counter.

Make the kitchen a fun atmosphere!

You’re more likely to enjoy cooking healthy if you have fun music, good lighting, and no clutter.

  • Plastic bags so you can portion control food you tend to overeat
