Live music to fill Jackson’s Rock Garden

Large, national touring concerts are canceled for the foreseeable future.

However, the show will go on in Jackson, Mo.

The city’s summer concert series, Rockin’ in the Rock Garden, is returning for the 12th year.

The sounds of local and area bands will fill the Jackson City Park with live music every Friday in June.

Shane Anderson, the parks and recreation director, said this year’s events will be much more socially distant.

“When you’ve been told you cannot do this, don’t do this, you’re looking for something that you can do, and guess what, this Friday night you can do it. And it’s free,” Anderson said.

While people will be encouraged to stay 6-feet apart, Anderson said the mission remains the same.

“I think that the music has always been a big part of the recreational programs here and I think it always will be and it’s enjoyed by everybody,” Anderson said.

Cousins Doug and Mark Rees will kick off the 2020 concert series.

The live music starts each Friday at 7:30 p.m.

You are encouraged to bring a chair or a blanket to sit on. You can even bring snacks and drinks to enjoy as well.
