Long-standing tradition: Behind the scenes at a fish fry

St. Vincent de Paul is serving up a ton of food.

Imagine this:

  • 600 pounds of fried fish,
  • 2,800 hush puppies,
  • 100 pounds of coleslaw,
  • and 200 pounds of green beans.

That’s about how much food St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Cape Girardeau is serving up each Friday during Lent.

The goal: feed more than 700 people while raising money to support local charities and missions abroad.

John Ryan, current president of the Men’s Association, says it is a long-standing tradition here. He takes us behind the scenes for a closer look at how all of this is prepared.
