It’s official: Owners break ground on new Krispy Kreme location in Cape

You'll soon have another place to satisfy your doughnut cravings.

It’s officially official: a Krispy Kreme location is coming to Cape Girardeau!

Owners broke ground on the new building on Friday, Sept. 28.

You’ll be able to get your donut fix when the shop opens at 2122 William Street. That’s next door to El Torerro in Town Plaza.

The sweetest news: Christmas will come early for Krispy Kreme lovers.

The owners hope to fill the air with the sweet smell of donuts by Dec. 18.

Folks tell Heartland Weekend they are literally counting down the days until they can lick sugar off their fingers.

However, this also means that Ty’s Summer Sno will have to find a new location. They are still looking for a new location.

Tasty Offerings at Krispy Kreme

If you aren’t familiar with the doughnut peddler, we’re here to help introduce you to all the possibilities.

You’ll soon be able to get a hot Krispy Kreme doughnut in Cape Girardeau.

Of course, they’re probably best known for the original glazed doughnut. Tip: when the sign is on, it means donuts are hot and fresh coming off the line. (Sorry to disappoint you, but the sign does not mean you get a free doughnut. While that’s sad because we all love free things, it’s also exciting because hot doughnuts are life.)

They’ve also got chocolate glazed, and sprinkles, and filled.

And they’re also good about thinking up new, limited time flavors that usually coordinate with the season.

Not a huge glazed doughnut fan? That’s okay. They also have apple fritters, cake doughnuts, cinnamon buns, and coffee.

Okay, enough is enough. I’ve waxed and waned poetic about doughnuts for long enough.

But join with Heartland Weekend as we happily welcome a new business to Cape Girardeau!

We’ll stay hot on the doughnut trail and bring you updates as we get them!
