Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program Begins

The Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity has announced the Crosswalk Community Action Agency in West Frankfort, will be administering the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) for Franklin, Jefferson, and Williamson Counties. LIHEAP will begin on Monday, October 1, 2018. The first two months of the program (October and November) will be a priority period for the income eligible Elderly (age 60 and over) and Disabled. Appointments will start being distributed on Monday, October 1, 2018 at 7:30am. On Monday, December 3, 2018, all other households meeting the income guidelines will be eligible to get an appointment on a first-come, first-served basis. Appointments will be available until May 31, 2019 or until funds are exhausted. If there are any questions, please call Crosswalk's Main Office at (618) 937-3581 and speak to someone in the LIHEAP Dept. PLEASE do not call the Man-Tra-Con Office or Dept. of Human Services Office. Franklin County residents can get an appointment for Energy Assistance at West Frankfor tCity Park (shelter begind the Aquatic Center) on Monday, October 1, 2018 from 7:30 am to 10 am. After 19 an Franklin County residents will need to to to the Crosswalk Main Office at 410 West Main Street, West Frankfort, IL to receive an appointment.
