Come for the ride, stay for the festival.
When the corn stalks begin to fill the fields of southeast Missouri, folks in East Prairie know it is festival time.
This year, the bootheel town will celebrate its 44th Sweet Corn Festival.
A farmer started the tradition as a way to sell this summer staple. It has since grown into two days of family fun.
This year the Main Street Party will start on Friday, June 22. Enjoy live music, craft and food vendors, a corn eating contest and more.
Cyclists from across the country are also invited here on Saturday, June 23 for the premier riding event known as the Tour de Corn.
You can ride 15, 30, 60, or 100 miles. Along the ride, you’ll find flat roads, great food and lots of smiles. Your participation even goes to charity.
Then stay for the festival.
Games of all sorts, including a corn toss, a sawdust scramble, and an outhouse race, will start at 9 a.m. and run every 15 minutes.
