They say laughter is the best medicine.
And now you can get a good laugh at a new comedy club in Cape Girardeau.
Jeff Johnson and his wife Kara opened Laughing Gas Comedy and the N2O Lounge in April of 2019.
The comedy club now occupies the space where an old pool hall previously called home on William Street in the Town Plaza.

What you can expect:
Johnson is a former assistant manager at the Funny Bone in St. Louis. He spent 15 or more years helping bring top-notch comedians to the area.
Now living in southeast Missouri, Johnson decided he needed to bring something similar to Cape Girardeau.
He organized a comedy show at the Show Me Center in the summer of 2018 that featured “Two Broke Girls” star Jonathan Kite, and Ian Bagg from “Last Comic Standing.”
Laughing Gas Comedy will host nationally touring headliners in a unqiue setting.
“The club is designed to have that intimate atmosphere so of course we have little cocktail tables and the stage is right in your lap so the farthest seat away is anywhere from 30 to 40 feet from the stage so that really gives you an opportunity to feel like you’re part of the show.”
The N2O lounge will be used to give people a place to socialize before and after the show. It will also be the place where the comedians can interact with visitors.
The comedy showroom will also be available for private parties, corporate events, and other occasions big or small.
Just call the club at 573-803-3003 or 573-803-3024 to make your reservation.
And, we’ve learned there’s more than just good comedy and laughs to enjoy.
The lounge also features Golden Tee on 55-inch monitors and a full-service bar you can enjoy every day of the week.
