Your mouth will water at the 25th Annual BBQ on the River

The winner of Paducah's BBQ on the River shares his secrets

Great BBQ, lively entertainment, eclectic crafts, 40,000 of your closest friends all in a charming downtown… sounds like a perfect Heartland Weekend.

bbqWe’re talking about Paducah’s BBQ on the River.

The community charitable event includes three days of more than 35 BBQ teams from western Kentucky and beyond.

They’ll cook up 80,000 plus pounds of pork and chicken in hopes of taking home the coveted Grand Champion trophy.

Beginning Thursday, September 26, the smell of smoked meat will take over 2 ½ blocks of camps in historic downtown Paducah.

What’s more: nearly $400,000 will be raised for local charities over the course of the weekend.

Visitors are encouraged to get the appetites ready!

Here’s a closer look at the schedule of events:

 Wednesday, Sept. 25

  • Porkstock: A one night only event kicking off the 25th Annual Barbecue on the River.  The event includes live music from 6 to 9 p.m. My Old Kentucky Home and The Cruisers will put on a show.

Thursday, Sept. 26

  • Enjoy tasty barbecue and fixins’ available at various food booths beginning at 11 a.m.
  • Non-Food vendors will open at noon and remain open until 10 p.m.
  • 6 bands to perform live on the main stage starting at 5 p.m.

Friday, Sept. 27

  • More food and live entertainment from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m.
  • Beer and Wine Gardens will be open from 11 a.m. until 11 p.m.
  • Main stage entertainment begins at 5 p.m. and will feature 6 musical acts
  • Non-Food vendors will open at noon and remain open until 10 p.m.

Saturday, Sept. 28

  • Get your legs moving at the 5K run which begins at 8 a.m. The race starts and finishes at Paducah Bank on Jefferson Street.
  • Shop for all your homegrown goods streetside during FULL-market Saturday, starting at 10 a.m. Market vendors will be streetside during the festival.
  • Get a plate full of BBQ and enjoy it while singing along to some live music from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m.
  • Non-Food vendors will be open from 9 a.m. until 11 p.m.
