The smell of smoked meat is taking over the Show Me Center for a first of its kind BBQ bash.
Smokin Brothers presents When Pigs Fly, a large indoor competition.
The public is invited to watch as 20 teams go head-to-head on Saturday, Jan. 25.
Then it’ll be their job to pick who will win.
Pitmasters will show off their skills in two categories: pork steaks and ribs.
There will also be a Heroes cup, which will feature a showdown between 4 teams of local fire, police, highway patrol and sheriff’s deputies.
The Hog Slop String Band will provide some live tunes during the day, and that evening The Intention will take the stage.
Smokin Brothers will also host cooking classes and demonstrations.
The event is family-friendly.
Tickets into the BBQ Bash are $10 and include a meal made up of a pulled pork sandwich and a side.
Pork Steaks will be judged between 12:30 p.m. and 1:30 p.m. It will cost $8 to judge a pork steak plate, in addition to your admission ticket.
Ribs will be judged between 6 and 7 p.m. It will cost $8 to judge a plate of ribs, in addition to your admission ticket.
Doors open to the event at 10:30 a.m.
